Banja Luka

Banja Luka is the second-largest city in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The city is the economic, political and administrative centre of Republika Srpska, located on the banks of the picturesque Vrbas River. Banja Luka is one of the most charming cities in the Balkans, often described as a ‘Green Oasis’.

Visiting Banka Luka

Start your visit by exploring the historic sites of the Kastel Fortress and the Ferhat Pasha Mosque. You can also experience the city’s nature by the Vrbas River or at Kozara National Park, and enjoy Banja Luka’s famous local cuisine, including the renowned Ćevapi and Trappist cheese. The city offers a blend of cultural landmarks and outdoor activities, complemented by a vibrant cafe culture and nightlife. Banja Luka is slowly becoming a major tourist destination. This website will provide you with the local knowledge and tips to make your visit a success.

Read about Lynne and Andy who choose to holiday here six months of the year. And meet Tom who is retired and living in Banja Luka.

Slow travel is the key to a more immersive experience of a country and its culture, and it is taking the travel industry by storm. Lynne and Andy from the UK have been living this lifestyle for a number of years. Lynne is retired, Andy is semi-retired and works online. They explain the benefits, pros and cons of slow travel and have some great tips. “We have a great lifestyle here in Banja Luka and one that is just not available to us in the UK. Mark is a content creator who lives in Banja Luka three to six months a year. He says: “I love it, and I’ve been to many European countries and Thailand working digitally. I stay for two or three months at a time, my apartment is great, I drink and eat in cafes and restaurants every day, go out in the evening to bars and sometimes listen to live music.”

There are inexpensive co-working spaces in the city, but it’s common to see people working in cafes. Everywhere has fast Wi-Fi, and mobile data is easy to access. Click the link for more information.
